I think I was around 7 when I was jamming out to Hannah Montana. Every little kid loved her back then. They would dance, and get all happy when her music played. At least I did. Her show played on Disney Channel, and Miley Cyrus portrayed a teenager/tween who was a secret pop star. And the soundtrack from that show led to concerts. Those concerts led to live CDs. Those CDs led to movies playing in theaters, and the movies led to "Epic Season Conclusions" like "Miley Says Goodbye??" Haha. I still remember how scared I was when I watched that preview. I didn't like her very much anymore, but the thought of losing that backup show on Disney Channel...was weird, I guess. It wasn't that season that ended it, though. It was Hannah Montana Forever, when Miley goes off to college with Lily, aka Emily Osment. That was the final episode played on Disney Channel.
So there ends a phase of something so radical, so fresh at the time. Now gone. But get ready, there's more.
You might wonder why she was so popular. My guess is that her music had a big influence on gaining her fans. Because she was not only an actress, but a singer, she had a group of followers supporting her 101%.
China Anne McClain of ANT Farm, a new series on Disney Channel, is also a singer, with a cover of Taio Cruz's "Dynamite" and her theme song. She also has a song called "Calling All The Monsters" which was featured on yet another show newer to Disney Channel called "Shake It Up".
So, my point is, music is powerful. When Disney stars from shows are asked to sing, it is most likely because they want a powerful fan base, not because they are talented. These phases will come and go, but Disney will always add another. They won't stop.
I feel like sometimes it is not needed (Mitchell Musso, not naming names...) to make a star sing, because they are not especially talented, but they do it anyways, just because they know there are people out there that will listen.
Radio Disney is just that - people that will not only listen, but CONSTANTLY advertise, talk about, and play. They are like the outlet for any new stars, Disney or not.
So, now you know what I think of Disney Channel and the music they make.
But here's a disclaimer:
THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE SELENA GOMEZ.
Selena and her band are signed to Hollywood Records. They are not Disney...so DON'T criticize.
She IS talented.
_THE END_
Thanks for reading this very long article - like post. :)
